Social Inclusion

Social Inclusion has been at the heart of the CRC agenda since its creation. The Social Inclusion task group looks to address some of the key issues of social and economic exclusion to assess where the commission can make a contribution to the life and work of churches serving their local communities across the region.  The SI group have held seminars on migrant workers, debt and financial inclusion, and funding for church projects, with supporting briefings and articles. There have also been significant reports such as Angels and Advocates published in November 2002, then a groundbreaking report into church and social action in the region.

Recently the CRC has published a new version of muck, brass and credit, about the reasons for indebtedness and what can be done; a briefing paper on the BNP, and a briefing paper on unemployment. The CRC has also surveyed faith representatives on Local Strategic Partnerships (LSPs) in a project with the Yorkshire and Humber Faiths Forum.

For all our briefing papers and reports see the publications page here

CRC works very closely with Livability and held a joint event in 2009 on supporting and training volunteers. In 2009 a seminar was held with Leeds Church Institute and the Oastler Centre on unemployment.

In 2010 CRC plans some work on housing and homelessness.
