About Us

The Commission

The CRC (Churches Regional Commission for Yorkshire and the Humber) was established in 1998. With regular church goers in excess of 420,000  and 4,500 churches in Yorkshire and the Humber, CRC  is well placed to ensure that people of faith have a voice in regional issues. CRC generates policy papers and projects that respond to to respond to the evolving political and economic context.It has previously run cultural projects (such as Treasures Revealed in West Yorkshire), religious literacy projects (Faithmatters) and the Rural Farming and Business Project.

It  is supported by church denominations across Yorkshire and the Humber..


CRC is based in Leeds and employs a Churches Regional Officer, Revd Dr Philip Bee,  and  an Administration and Finance Officer, Janet Bryer.

Strategic direction and policy for CRC is provided by a Board - of up to 15 Commissioners.They provide a consistent focus for CRC’s work as well as critical experience and knowledge. They also manage the business side of the organisation. A further thirty or more people contribute as members of either the Social Justice, Rural or Interfaith Groups.

CRC also benefits from a wider structure of reference to regional Church Leaders and has close working relationships with CRC organisations in the North East and North West.
