Back by popular demand after Livability ran this
event in April 2008, this event was being hosted by CRC, West Yorkshire
Ecumenical Council and Livability.
With limited budgets, and staff, churches and
community projects rely heavily on volunteers. But are we really looking after
and listening to them? Do we make the most of their potential? The day
will cover: understanding motivations: why do people volunteer for Christian
projects? Top tips on how to motivate others. The art of communication and how
to deal with tricky issues.
The

About the findings of CRC's
three year research and active-learning programme on Effective Christian
Presence and Enterprise.
Have we got the right leaders in the churches? How
do we sustain our work? How can we be more effective? Speakers included Fran
Beckett, Chief Exec of the Church Urban Fund, Malcolm Duncan of Faithworks and Liz

Funding Day

practical programme of case studies, inspirational speakers and workshops to
help churches find funding for their work and write successful bids.

freelance consultant, until recently CEO of Active Faith Communities

has set up a number of community action projects at Hull Community Church and
was key to the building of a £2 million church and centre

and Max Dudley: are elders at St Andrew’s Church, and the project has
redesigned and developed the church grounds, with grant funding.

Churches Together in England
and Churches Together in Britain and Ireland say that the
challenges to the churches posed by the current levels of migration cannot be
denied or ignored.
The consultation in Leeds, co-operation with the Churches Commission for
Yorkshire and the
Humber, is an opportunity both to hear from others and to share what you can.
Fair Finance? Second regional seminar on financial inclusion
June 30th
2006, 9.30 – 12.45, St Anne’s Cathedral Hall, Leeds
There is growing concern about the problems of access to
affordable credit faced by poorer people trapping them in poverty and the need
for new strategies to overcome this. The Churches Regional Commission for
Yorkshire and the
Humber
invite you to attend a second regional seminar which includes national speakers
from the banking sectors, to revisit issues, assess progress and examine
potential solutions for our region. This follow up seminar aimed to consider ways
of enabling more people to share in the region’s prosperity by making financial
services as inclusive as possible.
It was particularly targeted towards decision makers in regional
organisations, the financial sector and the voluntary sector and people in the
churches and faith-based organisations.

A Briefing Paper published by CRC to introduce the issues, report on progress towards solutions and

developments and the seminar event. The Paper will be free, and

in the Autumn of 2006 or by request from CRC.
